Jane Austen (1775-1817) is one of the world's famous writers. She wrote many classics such as Pride and Prejudice, Sense and Sensibility and Emma. Her novels revolve around the society of her day. She stayed at a number of addresses in Bath and wrote a great deal about it.
Bath is celebrated as a resort where the 18th century, wealthy Londoners would come and stay to gamble, dance and generally enjoy themselves. Bath is a beautiful city of warm coloured stone and magnificent Georgian buildings built in the Palladian style.
